Annex
Standards commonly include annexes containing extra information. Annexes can be either informative (containing recommendations or options) or normative (containing requirements). See Normative vs. Informative Elements.
Example: Annex A in a standard might provide optional guidance on implementation steps, while Annex B could contain mandatory calculation methods.
ASTM International
ASTM is an SDO developing standards for engineering, construction, and manufacturing. ASTM standards are widely referenced in US regulations and contracts, and used internationally in many technical fields.
Example: ASTM C150 defines requirements for Portland cement.
Audit / Auditor
The conformity assessment process for management system standards is called an audit and must be carried out regularly to maintain certification. Can be both an internal audit and an external/certification audit. See Conformity, Certification
Example: An internal auditor reviews whether a company follows its ISO 9001 procedures before an external certification audit.
